Levente and Alexandru Széll, entrepreneurs behind Agrosel, a seed production and research station based in Câmpia Turzii, Cluj County, have launched Hektar Seeds. This new company will exclusively focus on providing high-quality professional seeds for vegetable cultivation under the Hektar brand.
"With 28 years of industry experience, including 18 years of dedicated research, and in line with our long-term growth strategy, we established Hektar Seeds to create a distinct business line focused on supporting professional vegetable growers," shared Levente Széll, general director and shareholder of Agrosel. "Through Hektar, we aim to provide premium seeds that enhance productivity and meet the specific needs of professional producers."
Agrosel closed 2022 with nearly an 8% revenue growth compared to 2021, achieving a turnover exceeding 54 million lei and an operating profit of approximately 9 million lei. Over the past decade, the company’s turnover has doubled, largely due to successfully obtaining official approval for over 100 vegetable varieties with Romanian genetics bred in the Turzii Plain.
"Through the Hektar brand, our goal is to become a key player in the professional vegetable seed market for Romanian hybrids over the next four years," Széll added. "We provide a domestic alternative to European standards, with our hybrids offering the same disease resistance as Western counterparts. Our seeds compete on equal terms with Western products in quality, bringing unique value to Romania’s professional vegetable growers."
