With BEVERLY HILLS F1, No More Worries!

A standout hybrid with over 15 years of successful cultivation across various regions in Romania, Beverly Hills F1 is designed for high yield and consistent cabbage head formation. This ensures uniformity in size and shape, making harvesting and processing much easier.

Seedlings

For the best results, choose cabbage seeds from reputable suppliers. You can either use a pre-made potting mix or create your own by combining garden soil with well-rotted compost. Cabbage seedlings need plenty of light for healthy growth, so plant the seeds at the recommended depth, usually about 1 cm. Water the substrate gently to keep it moist but not overly saturated, using a fine sprayer to avoid disturbing the seeds. Cabbage germinates best at cooler temperatures of around 15-20°C. Ensure the seedlings are in a bright location, but shield them from direct, intense sunlight.

Disease and Pest Prevention

Regularly inspect your cabbage plants for signs of pests or diseases and take action as needed. Make sure to plant your cabbage at the right spacing to allow for good air circulation, which helps reduce the risk of fungal and bacterial infections. Water the plants consistently, preferably in the morning, to help the leaves dry out during the day, which can also minimize disease risk. Companion plants like basil or mint can naturally deter certain pests. Potash soap, neem oil, and other organic remedies are effective in pest control. Keep the area free from plant debris and weeds to reduce places where pests and diseases can hide. If you spot any problems, act quickly to prevent them from affecting your crop.

Cultural Practices

Once the seedlings develop their first true leaves and reach a height of about 5-8 cm, they can be transplanted into the garden or larger pots to allow for more space to grow. If planting outdoors, gradually acclimatize the seedlings to the outdoor conditions by exposing them to sunlight and cooler temperatures over a few days before transplanting them permanently. Continue to water and fertilize according to the recommended guidelines for cabbage to ensure healthy growth.

Taste and Sensory Attributes

Cabbage has a distinct flavor that is slightly sweet with a subtle bitter note, and its texture can range from crunchy to tender depending on its freshness and maturity. The outer leaves are typically crisp, while the inner leaves are more tender and juicy. When cooked, cabbage absorbs the flavors of spices and other ingredients, enhancing its taste. Adding garlic, onion, or herbs can significantly alter the flavor profile. Fresh cabbage may have a mild acidity, which can vary between varieties and can be adjusted based on preparation methods. This hybrid's thin leaves and unique taste make it ideal for traditional dishes like sarmale, and it is a versatile ingredient in various culinary applications. It is also a nutrient-rich vegetable, providing essential vitamins such as vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin A, folic acid, and dietary fiber.

Profitability

Growing BEVERLY HILLS F1 cabbage can help reduce costs by eliminating the need to purchase it from stores. This variety of cabbage is an affordable crop to grow, as it does not require expensive inputs. It also offers the benefit of food autonomy, allowing you to have greater control over how the crops are grown and managed. In terms of market potential, this hybrid is well-suited for local supermarkets, restaurants, and food markets, or you can sell it directly to consumers at a vegetable stand.

Helpful Tips and Recommendations

Cabbage thrives in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Prepare the soil a few weeks before planting by adding compost or well-rotted manure to enhance fertility. It’s important not to plant cabbage in the same spot each year—crop rotation helps prevent the build-up of pests and diseases. Transplant cabbage seedlings after the frost risk has passed. Cabbage prefers cooler temperatures and can be planted in either spring or fall. If temperatures are expected to drop, protect the plants with cloth, agril, or special foil. Harvest cabbage when the heads are firm and dense. Avoid leaving mature cabbage in the garden for too long, as it may become overgrown or attract pests. When stored properly, cabbage can remain fresh for extended periods, offering more flexibility in terms of consumption and meal preparation.
